Florida Freshwater Springs

August 26-27

We departed Tallahassee on Monday morning and headed to Wakulla Springs State Park.

The springs in Florida are usually between 68*-72* year round.

Florida springs are usually large boils of water the flow millions of gallons of water out and start a river. Wakulla pushes out between 200-300 million gallons a DAY!

A fun fact about this spring is that some of the earliest Tarzan films were filmed at the park.

Sadly, they have the boil roped off and we couldn’t swim in it. But they did have a tall jumping platform that the kids jumped from over and over again.

We drove a couple hours east and stayed overnight at a small RV park. On Tuesday we headed to Ichetucknee spring.

It was beautiful. Crystal clear and had two separate holes we could swim in. We have a sport camera that can take underwater photos so the kids tried it out. They got some really nice photos.
