Richmond, Virginia

September 8th, 2018

We left the “house” and drove the Odyssey into Richmond, Virginia for the day.

Our first stop was the Holocaust Museum of Virginia.

It was a very sobering visit. We should not forget history like this so that we never allow it to be repeated.

We ate lunch at a cuban restaurant that was recommended by the park ranger (Thanks Twila!) at Pocohontas State Park. This was a new experience for us all.

It appears that the waitress taking the photo missed Josiah….he was sitting next to Jeremiah.

We then took a footbridge over to Belle Isle. Belle Isle is an island in the James River in Richmond that had a Confederate Prison on it during the Civil War.

Here’s the view of the James River and Richmond from the footbridge.

We walked around on the trail and also on the rocks.

Watched this snake trying to eat a fish.

A few of the crew did some climbing too.

We walked around the Tredegar Iron Works which was responsible for making half of the weapons for the Confederate Army during the Civil War.
