Providence Canyon Georgia

April 1, 2019

Today we visited Providence Canyon State Park. It is nicknamed “The Little Grand Canyon”.

This canyon was caused by poor farming practices that led to the massive erosion. In fact, it was said that one storm removed 6 feet in one night! The area is mostly sand. You can see by our walking path that the water is constantly moving and carrying the sand away. Yes, this is what a lot of the trail looked like!

Looks like gold in the water.

After lunch (we packed a cooler and ate at the van) we headed back down into the canyon. Donald took a spill on the rocks and got a nasty scrape on his knee!

Such a rich blue sky.

Here’s a Where’s Waldo shot….can you find Donald? (hint, he’s wearing a gray sweater)

Thought this tree was neat. It has four trunks and the trail goes right through them.

Come into the cave with me…..

Views from the rim.

We hiked for about 6 hours. We were plum tuckered out by the time we returned to the motor home.
