June 18-

Mount Mitchell.

It was rainy and visibility was about zero.

June 19

We visited the Miller Homestead at Roan Mountain State Park. The homestead is well preserved. It shows the way of life in the Appalachian mountains generations ago.

From their website “The Miller house was built in 1908 and is now preserved as a reminder of the way folks used to live in these mountains.”

Rooms upstairs…

They used newspaper to cover the walls for insulation.

My grandmother has this photo hanging in her dining room.

I cannot remember if she had this one as well.

Beautiful flower gardens maintained outside.

Can you spot the bee?

Parting shot here…

Then we went for a hike at a waterfall in town.
