17 mile hike in the canyon and back out!

August 5, 2020

Donald, Audrah and Jed took off around 9:30am for a 17 mile hike down the South Kaibab trail, across the canyon and back up the Bright Angel Trail.

They went down with some new friends: Robers and Gillian.

Kyrah and Suzie went about a mile with them before they continued on into the canyon. We waited til they were a ways off so we could catch some photos of them.

While we waited, a mule train ascended from the canyon.

If you can zoom in, look for an orange backpack…that would be Jed.

Another mule train.

They left at 9:30am and returned 16 hours later at 1:30am!!

Jed took a small bottle down and brought up some water and sand from the river.

This is the trail that they came back up on in the dark.

  1. When we went, we went down the Bright angel to the first porta John. Then I had to carry lil Syd on my shoulders neck to the top. 😜
