We are in Tennessee staying at Suzie’s cousin’s place in Knoxville, TN. We had The Lost Sea Adventure on our bucket list. It was only about an hour drive. Click here for some more information on this cavern.
This cave has an original entrance but it is a set of steep stairs. They have blasted this new entrance.
It is a typical cave tour except that at the end of the tour, there is a boat ride on a lake in the cave.
During the Civil War this cave was used.
It was also used as a tavern in the days of the Depression and Prohibition. There is even an old still in there.
Little stream in the cave which runs down and empties in the lake.
The lake has trout in it. They are not native. They were placed in there years ago as an experiment to see if there was a way out of the cave system. The fish never got out. They don’t reproduce in the caves so every 5 years they restock the lake. They feed them on every boat ride so they come up close to the boat and you can reach in the water and touch them.
