New Orleans, Day 3

November 28, 2018

Kyrah, Audrah and Jedidiah are attempting to collect badges/patches from the National Forests/Parks around the country. In order to do this, one has to visit the park and get a book from the park ranger, complete the booklet and return it to the ranger for the badge. Since Jean Lafitte was closed yesterday, they didn’t get to do it so we decided to return today and do some more swamp hiking.

Jeremiah liked this water fountain fail… someone left something out at the drawing board.

This time we were not on a boardwalk. This trail was hardly used…except by the wild hogs as evidenced by the large wallows they had left in the mud. There were also lots of  mosquitoes!!

We took another trail that had some boardwalk.

Saw some colorful eggs on a stump…we’re assuming they are snail eggs.

There were some really large baldcypress trees.

People used to actually live in these swamps!

We walked one more trail near dark. Saw a nutria swimming in the water (looks like a beaver but without a big tail).

We headed back into New Orleans to pick up a friend to go out for supper and get a taste of some cajun/creole food.

Gumbo…

Alligator sausage po-boy sandwiches.

After stopping to drop Miss Linda off, we went inside her house and visited for a little bit. At 10pm it was time to head home. We got back to the RV park at 11:15!

Had a fun, full day.
