Today was a free day so we slept in, hung around the house and then decided to take a day trip and knock a few more New England states off our list.
Here is the view from the back porch.

The lake that our rental house is on is frozen. So several family members decided to walk on it.

Jeshuah and Jedidiah went barefoot.

When we started this trip, it was not our goal to visit all 48 contiguous states but we figured that while we were up here and had the opportunity, we should.
So, we decided to go to Maine for lunch. (0:
To get there, we had to go through Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

We went to Robert’s Maine Grill in Kittery, Maine. Looks “New Englandy” doesn’t it?

Almost all of us ordered hamburgers. One ordered a wrap and didn’t know it had fish in it, otherwise he wouldn’t have ordered it.

Calamari (squid). It was actually yummy. There was breading but Josiah peeled it off for the photo.

Audrah left the waitress a little artwork.

Since we were so close to the Atlantic Ocean, we drove over to Fort Foster and walked down to the water.

Snowball in mid-air.

The water temperature was 39*. No one wanted to brave that, not even Donald!

We then headed to the XL center where the ninja competition will be held for pre-registration. After that a quick run to the rental house to drop some people off and get ready to head to the airport to pick up more.
Thought this restroom sign was pretty funny, looks like the wheelchair person REALLY has to go!

We picked up our friend Brett from NC. He couldn’t ride up with his family today because he had baseball tryouts this afternoon so he flew in to Hartford. We were already planning to be at the airport picking up Suzie’s brother and mother who are flying up to watch the competition.

While we were waiting (had to spend several hours in the airport due to delayed flights) we saw ninjas arriving for the competition.
The guy running the Dunkin’ Donuts stand (across from where we sat for several hours) called the boys over and gave them free donuts because he said he was closing up the shop. They’re supposed to compete tomorrow and they’re snacking on donuts!!

Finally, Suzie’s mom and brother arrived at 1:08 am! We finally got to bed around 2:30am.
