Finishing Up New England

February 20, 2019

We extended our stay in Connecticut for two more days. We had Vermont and Rhode Island left of the New England states. We were so close, we said we had to finish.

So we  planned for a 4.5 hour trip. Rhode Island and Vermont aren’t really next door to each other. So we headed east and drove right over the border into Rhode Island and then turned around and headed back into Connecticut. We went north and west through Massachusetts. We stopped in a small town to get some subs from Subway.

Saw lots of stone walls.

Then we headed into Vermont. We decided to stop by a farm to get some real Vermont maple syrup. We didn’t know that we’d be taking a gravel road through the forest to get there!!

Franklin Farm just inside the Vermont border is a working farm. They have a little, tiny store where you serve yourself and leave you cash or check. Love the honor system.

On the way out we stopped at some ice formations on some rather large rocks. I didn’t picture Vermont with large rocks coming out of the hills.

When we got back to the rental house, we decided that instead of leaving the following morning, we were going to head out that night as a ice/sleet storm was approaching and we didn’t want to get stuck up there.

So, Donald, Jeshuah and Josiah took naps while the rest of us cleaned the house and packed,

We hit the road at 9pm and the roads were already getting yucky. Lots of slush. But Donald drove on and got us within an hour of Rocky Mount, NC. Jeshuah took over from there. We arrived at a Denny’s in town at 7am to grab some breakfast before heading over to the shop to get the motor home (they didn’t open until 8am).

Donald drove the motor home back to the gym, parked and we crashed for 4-5 hours.

We give thanks to the Lord for a safe trip. He is good. All.The.Time.

  1. Vermont is my home state and yes, Vermont soil grows rocks best… seriously. Granite is a major product and those stone walls are there to get em out of the fields…
