Lake Itasca is the headwaters of the Mississippi River.

How the lake got its name:

Fingers in!

Lake Itasca. It takes approximately 90 days for the waters here to empty into the Gulf of Mexico.

The rocks separate the Lake from the Mississippi River.

The temperature was in the 40’s for both the water and the air.

The log in the video is the first “bridge” over the Mississippi.

These plants were neat. They look like tiny Christmas trees.

Wild raspberry bushes.

Some Mississippi River trivia.

We didn’t stay too long as it was cold and rainy. We were all shivering, especially Donald since he got wet wading in the river.
Here we are driving on the first (and probably shortest) motor vehicle bridge over the Mississippi River(0:

We drove on into Wisconsin.

Lots of farmlands. We stopped in Eau Claire, WI for the night. We went to dinner at Milwaukee Burger Company.

Since Donald forgot that yesterday was Suzie’s birthday, we went out tonight instead. He’s asking over on Facebook (click on yellow words for a direct link) for advice on how to get out of the doghouse…hop on over if you’d like to give your 2 cents. (0:

Since we were in a Wisconsin restaurant, we ordered cheese curds. We were not disappointed.

Longest string yet! All the way across the table!!

We were definitely pleased with the burgers too!

We over-nighted again in a Walmart parking lot. This one had some really pretty trees blooming in the parking lot. Nice pictures Josiah!
