On to Oregon…

Wednesday, October 2, 2019

We had a little time this morning so Donald, Suzie, Kyrah, Audrah and Jedidiah went back into Mt. Rainier park to turn in their Junior Ranger books at the nearest Visitor Center.

Outside the center, there is this huge slice of a Douglas Fir!

Inside they had some neat displays, this one has been on display for at least 60 years. The building is over 100 years old.

In the “old days” when cars were first starting to bring people into the park (before that it was horses), they had this working gas station. The attendant lived upstairs. They no longer provide fuel in the park.

Rainier is the 12th tallest according to this chart.

We headed south to Oregon to meet up with Donald’s friend Jess who lives near Eugene, OR. We arrived on time to attend youth group at this church that evening. We camped at a nice little city campground called Armitage.
