We left Eugene, Oregon heading for the Redwood National Forest in California. As we drove through Oregon and passed Oregon Caves National Monument Donald reminded us that on his trip 30 years ago, he slid his motorcycle down about 80 feet off the mountain leading up to those caves. We pulled the motor home over at a parking lot in the town of Cavern Junction, unloaded the van from the trailer and headed up the mountain.
He remembers that there was a sharp switchback right before he slid. There were 2-3 that could’ve been the one as he couldn’t pinpoint exactly the one. But we saw the mountain that took him down, down down the mountain.
We went ahead up to the visitor center to grab Junior Ranger books.

The buildings have bark siding.

Kyrah discovered a scorpion in the ladies’ restroom!

We didn’t go into the caves. Just walked around outside.

Coming into California on the Pacific Coast Highway we got our first glimpse of the Pacific Ocean in Crescent City!

Cannot believe all the rocks at the ocean, definitely not like the Atlantic side.

Water is very cold

Can you guess who is walking along the beach?

We brought along a bottle of Atlanta Ocean water that we collected back at the Outer Banks in NC. We deposited it in the Pacific Ocean.
We then filled the bottle up with Pacific Ocean water to take back to the Atlantic with us.

Stayed for sunset
