Today we stopped at a swimming hole near our campground yet outside the borders of Yosemite. It was called Rainbow Pool. It is a very pretty place and the water looks deep enough to jump in from the rocks. Problem is, that it is much too cold to enjoy this time of year.

Entering Yosemite, we decided to drive the Yosemite Valley road. Here is looking down the valley, still a lot of smoke. Trivia lovers, this is the road that Herbie the Lovebug raced on in the first movie. We saw a replica car a couple days ago here in California which prompted us to rent the movie… Kyrah, Audrah and Jed had never seen it. As we watched, we said the roads looked a bit familiar. When they referenced Yosemite Valley, we looked it up. We had no idea that the movie was filmed in Yosemite.

So much rock!!

We went to the visitor center to drop off the Junior Ranger books, watch a movie and get badges and a Yosemite patch!!

While at the visitor’s center, we visited the Ahwahnee museum.

El Capitan

Can you see the teeny, tiny rock climbers on the rock? We met a couple of guys gearing up to make the climb. They were wearing a lot of gear!

Can’t get this close to it and not touch it.(0:

Climbing a bit.

So majestic!

Stopped at the Merced River.

Bridalveil falls

Donald took this time lapse video that shows just how much the wind gusts blow the falls from side to side making it look like a swaying bridal veil.
You could scramble up the boulders and get closer to the falls. If you follow the falls down, you can see Jeshuah and Jeremiah on the rock beneath it.

Gotta climb a tree
