Big Bend Day 1

Wednesday, November 27, 2019

Our first hike in Big Bend was to Balanced Rock.

Had to get a picture of this Joshua Tree growing in the rocks! There doesn’t appear to be any soil around.

Can you find Jeshuah and Jeremiah in the picture? Hint…Jeshuah is wearing a black jacket…Jeremiah is wearing a camo jacket.

View from the top of the Balanced Rock

Then we went to the Daniel’s Ranch trail. Donald dropped us off and he and Jeshuah went to the other end of the trail so we didn’t have to walk the three miles there and then back again.

The Rio Grande

Mexico on the other side.

There was a mule tethered to a bush on the Mexico side of the river.

Turtle shaped rock formation in the river.

On the Rio Grande

Neat fossil in this stone

Made it to where we found Donald and Jeshuah…in a hot spring that was around 105*F. The spring was blocked in with stone walls and the excess poured over the walls into the river. You could hop over into the cold Rio Grande. Mexico on the other side.

They were diving in and trying to swim upstream.

Got back to the campground after dark.
