Zweite Weihnachten is German for Second Christmas.
Today we traveled to Fredericksburg, Texas to visit the Pioneer Museum and participate in our first Zweite Weihnachten.
This area of Texas was heavily inhabited by German immigrants in the mid-late 1800’s through 1900’s.

Several things found in these houses reminded Suzie of items found in her grandparent’s homes when she was a child.

Then at 2:00pm, in one of the buildings on the museum’s grounds, the local German club had a Zweite Weihnachten celebration. They had cookies and some German sweets/drinks and a couple playing German Christmas carols on their accordions. Jeremiah enjoyed joining German conversations to test out his ability to speak with them. They told him his German is very good and he would get along good if he were in Germany.

This lady’s name was Elsie, same as Jeremiah’s great-grandmother.

On our way home, we stopped briefly at Pedernales State Park to catch a quick view of a waterfalls there.

Then we stopped in Johnson City to see some lights.

We got back to the motor home and pulled out the Christmas dinner leftovers from yesterday and had another feast.
You guys are truly seeing it all what a trip you have taken . I took someone to the airport at work the other day that’s about as far as my adventuring has gone lately. However I officially resigned from my current job today after fulfilling two week notice . I’m excited for my new one I start next Wednesday that will involve lots of travel .
