March 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6, 2019
After sleeping late on Saturday, we decided to go visit some old (meaning we’ve known them a long time) friends.
Spent the afternoon with Aunt Jean and her sister Faye and her husband Lamar Jones.

Sunday we attended church at First Baptist in Seville where some long-time friends of Donald’s attend. It is also the church where Donald asked Jesus into his life as his savior.

It also has ninja obstacles out front!!(0:

We spend several hours in the afternoon with Uncle Richard and Aunt Diane Yelvington.

We then headed back to the church and hung out and made some new friends.
Played volleyball

Cracked whips
Ate pizza

and arm wrestled
At the church is the cemetery where Donald’s mom is buried so we went to the grave site with the kids.

On Monday we visited with Uncle Mack Yelvington.
He needed a few strong bodies to help unload hay in the cow pasture.

Donald, Uncle Mack and Uncle Richard

After getting back to his house, Uncle Mack took us across the street to meet some of his cows.

Feeding cattle cubes to the cows. Take a look at the curly tongue!!

Cute calves

Looks like a lizard is trying to catch a ride in Donald’s bag.

We headed back to the shop and Uncle Mack showed us how to do leather working.

Finished product (thanks Uncle Mack!!)

We also picked some oranges in the yard.

Parting shot
Uncle Mack had a meeting to go to so we said goodbye and thank you and headed to Pierson to drop in and say hello to Bobby and Virginia. Donald worked for and lived with them one summer in between semesters in college.
We found out when we arrived that Mr. Bobby was in bad shape and they had called hospice in. We’ve spend the past several days there and Donald has been staying overnight to help with the night shift. Bobby has been the best example of a godly man/husband/father/grandfather in Donald’s life.
Tuesday we spent the morning visiting the elementary school that Donald attended as a child. Several of the ladies that volunteer there caught up with him on old times.

They have a little historical museum there. We learned that before becoming the Fern Capital of the world, Seville was the Tangerine Capital of the world. Freezes in 1985 and 1987 destroyed the citrus industry here and planting of the ferneries became the new economy.

An old pressure cooker in the museum. These are the kinds that people picture blowing up when you talk about pressure cookers. They’ve come a long way since then. Suzie cooks in an electric pressure cooker often.

Some neat tree trunks it the school yard.

After that we spent the rest of the day at the Robert’s house. Kids did school work and played with their grandkids/great-grandkids when they arrived after school. The game of choice is nerf wars.
Tuesday evening we went to dinner with Justin and Kathy (and I failed to get a photo!!) Justin and Donald were friends growing up.
Wednesday several of the kids and Suzie spent the afternoon with Aunt Shawn at their house catching up on some laundry and visiting with her. Kids did school.

Wednesday evening we went to Daniel & Ashley’s (nephew on Donald’s side) for pizza and fun.

It is nice to see you in Florida cracker country, unloading hay bales and “cracking the whip” :=)
