Zion day 1

Wednesday, June 26, 2019

We got our first glimpse of Zion National Park this afternoon. Zion was Utah’s first National Park. Here you’ll learn some interesting facts about Zion. The Mormans named it Zion after Jerusalem as their paradise in Utah.

We are parked about 5 miles from the East entrance to Zion at Hi-Road Campground. We highly recommend this little gem. It has showers, laundry and full hook up for the RV.

The east entrance to Zion has two tunnels. One of them is a mile long and cannot handle RV and campers unless they drive down the middle of the tunnel. So they charge a $15 fee and stop traffic so they can drive through the tunnel. We didn’t take our motor home into the park; just drove the van. When they built this tunnel back 1930  and they didn’t account for the large RV’s nowadays.
