Redwoods, day 3

Monday, October 7, 2019

Today we drove north to visit the Jedediah Smith State Redwoods Park. The Ranger there told us to go see the Stout Grove. We were not disappointed.

Driving in here is not for the faint of heart…this is a two way road! (we were in the van NOT the motor home!)(0:

You feel so small here amongst these giants.

Come walk with me…

We lost Jeremiah for several hours after he disappeared through this tree door….just kidding.

To our kids, the woods are just a giant playground set there for them by God. (0:

Jed is bouncing on a loose piece of bark!!

These large sections of bark were just lying on the ground. The sound when Jeremiah dropped it was so loud and it shook the ground. I bet that weighed more than Jeremiah!

After this walk in the park we headed to the ocean. This view here was from about 1000 feet above the ocean. I don’t think I’ve even been that high above the ocean before.

Come walk with me…

Come walk some more…

I love tree tunnels!

There were lots of wild blackberry bushes. Some had blooms and some had berries.

Getting closer to the beach.

Looks like a streak of gold in the rock.

There was a little stream flowing from he hillside into the ocean. Audrah and Jed tried making a dam to stop it.

Jeshuah building cairns (rock towers).

There are so many rocks on the beach!

We took a walk over to the rocks.

Saw a sea star

and anemones

They enjoy running over rocks.

Air plants growing in the rocks.

So different from the Atlantic Ocean.

We then drove up to another vista point as sunset neared.

We stayed for sunset. Even heard a seal barking below us.

  1. I enjoyed watching the kids having fun in God’s playground:-) The rock towers reminded me of land markers in Jordan – no fences
