Houston Space Center

December 1, 2018

It’s a new month!

Today we drove to the Houston Space Center. We drove the motor home there and parked in their parking lot.

This is a working space center. They have many buildings where training and research are conducted.

We took a couple of tram tours to buildings where we got to go inside and see what happens inside. The weather was perfect. Warm and sunny but not hot.

They train and test things in here. They have a lot of robots that they test. Across the top where the blue banners are, you can see the metals and awards they have won.

This is Mission Control.

Then we went inside the space shuttle and 747 that was used to ferry it to Florida from California. The shuttle is a mock-up but the 747 is the real one they used.

Payload bay, on the upper right you can see the arm that used to grab satellites when working in space.

Ninja obstacles

We all got to touch a moon rock.

And a Mars rock.

Lots to see…

…and do…

We stayed until closing time. Then drove to a Walmart and spent the night there.

  1. Thanks for posting the videos and pictures. That’s an awesome trip! Of course a space station has to have some ninja obstacle potential! That pictures of Jed in the space craft exhaust is funny., Haha! A cool addition would be a life size model of terrestrial environment from outer space. If the air could be thin, the landscape vast, maybe dusty, and even background noise that sounds outer worldly. Could you imagine that? What would you add?
